Sanwen respects your privacy. There is no sign-up, and what you enter stays on your own device. This page explains what we keep, where it is stored, and how you can manage it.

1. What is kept

• Your name or nickname (optional): used to greet you on the home page.
• Your date, time and time zone of birth (optional): used for your Four Pillars chart, your sun sign, and the daily five-element and zodiac suggestions.
• The daily reset time zone: decides when each day’s stick, card and hexagram change.
• Your language: remembers whether you chose Chinese or English.
• Each day’s stick, tarot card, hexagram and guidance: so you can look at them again that day and in your history.

We never ask for your phone number, address, email, ID number, financial details or location, and we do not use your camera or microphone.

2. Where it is stored

• All of the above stays in your current browser’s local storage (IndexedDB). It is never uploaded to us or to any third-party server.
• We cannot see, access or back up your data, so we cannot recover it for you either.
• Data is not synced between devices or browsers.

3. Ads, analytics and cookies

• Ads on this site are provided by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors’ cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland are first asked whether they consent to cookies.
• We never pass the name, birth details or results you enter to Google or any other advertiser.
• We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count overall visits. When a page opens it records the page, the referring site, the browser and device type, the approximate country and the loading speed, only to see how many people use the site. It uses no cookies, does not identify or track individuals, and never receives the name, birth details or results you enter.
• The site works offline. Once open, sticks, cards, hexagrams and chart calculations all happen on your device, and apart from the analytics and ads above it connects to no other service.
• “Buy us a coffee” on the Settings page opens our Ko-fi page in a new tab. Donations happen on Ko-fi, and payment details are handled by Ko-fi and its payment providers (such as PayPal) under their own privacy policies; Sanwen never receives them. Simply browsing Sanwen never contacts Ko-fi.
• The host that serves the site’s files may keep ordinary connection logs (such as IP address and time of access) under its own policy, for delivery and security. These logs contain nothing you enter on the site.

4. Managing your data

• Change or delete your birth details on the Chart page.
• Change your name, time zone or language on the Settings page.
• Delete everything with “Clear local data” on the Settings page: all results, guidance, your name and birth details are removed, and this cannot be undone.
• Clearing your browser’s site data, using a private window or uninstalling the app also removes your data.

5. About the content

Everything here is for entertainment and self-reflection. It does not predict the future and is not medical, legal, financial or other professional advice; base important decisions on real information.

6. Changes to this notice

If we ever add accounts or cloud storage, or change how ads and analytics work, we will update this page and say so on the site first. Anything that needs your data uploaded will be explained and will ask for your consent, and the site will remain usable without signing up.
